Get to Know Mr. Little

Mr. Little is a brand new teacher to the Verona School District, and he currently teaches AP Psychology and Ad Psych. He will also be the new boys freshman basketball coach. I recently interviewed Mr. Little (Over Zoom of course) and I’m very excited to introduce him to everyone, I think Mr. Little will be a teacher that a lot of students can connect with, he has recently graduated from UW-Madison and he is a teacher who really wants to be a mentor to his students.
CE: What led you to become a teacher?
Little: “...while I was in college, I actually started coaching Basketball. I just really loved connecting with high school students, that was at the freshman level over at Middleton. But I loved connecting with students, so I decided to combine my love of Social Sciences and my love for connecting with students and being a mentor. That led me down the path to getting my degree in education.
CE: What is one thing you always try to bring to teaching?
Little: “I really try to teach by not just giving students the information, but by asking the right questions. This year that’s been tough because I’m teaching through a Zoom call, but that's something I always try to think about when teaching.”
CE: Do you have any advice for your Basketball Players, if you guys get the chance to play this year?
Little: “I always tell my players to put aside their egos. I want them to have a We before Me mentality.”
CE: Is there any life advice you would give to students in general?
Little: “When I was a Senior in high school, I wouldn’t have thought I was going to become a teacher. I didn’t figure that out until college. That also leads to my advice, which is, don’t feel like you have to have everything figured out right now. One other thing I would recommend, is to try new things. In college, I really tried to branch out, and those experiences would end up helping me realize what I wanted to do, which was teaching.
